Associate Attorney - General Liability

About the Opportunity:

Kelley Kronenberg’s Chicago office is growing its General Liability team and is looking for a driven Associate Attorney to take on a meaningful role in premises liability and personal injury defense. This is an opportunity to build real ownership over a caseload from day one while working alongside an experienced Partner who will actively mentor on strategy, motion practice, and trial preparation.

You’ll manage your own docket of complex litigation matters and serve as the primary point of contact for clients on those files, while partnering closely with a seasoned Partner to shape case strategy and sharpen your litigation skills. The caseload spans a range of substantive and interesting matters, giving you exposure to varied fact patterns rather than a single narrow practice niche.

Depending on the needs of the team, your files may include negligent security claims, personal and commercial auto and common carrier litigation, dram shop matters, fire and explosion losses, and products liability defense; the kind of docket that keeps the work varied and builds a well-rounded litigation skill set early in your career.

Your Responsibilities:

• Independently manage a high-volume litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Collaborate directly with a Partner to develop case strategy and defense positioning on complex or high-exposure files.
• Communicate regularly with clients to provide status updates and deliver responsive, high-quality service.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents with minimal oversight as your experience grows.

Required Education and Experience:

1. 3+ years of civil litigation practice experience.
2. Juris Doctorate Degree.
3. Active admission to practice law in Illinois.
4. Strong writing and analytical skills, with the ability to manage a litigation caseload independently.

Estimated Compensation Range: $100,000–$140,000, depending on experience. Final compensation is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and geographic location, and this position is eligible for additional bonus compensation tied to individual and Unit performance.
